Resources

Concrete Action has produced a number of guides and other resources to help communities negotiate the planning system and work towards liveable futures.

  • The reclaiming regeneration manual is a rework of the RIBA plan of work, a tool used by architects to organise projects from concept to completion. The manual is a work in progress, a reflection on realistic alternative models of community-led regeneration in the current climate of neoliberal politics and the financialisation of development.

  • Once you understand the system, it is easier to find paths of resistance. This guide explains the different stages in the planning process in terms of how it affects you, who and what is involved and courses of action you can take in order to oppose development.

  • Planning Data Map (based on London Development Database)

This is a series of maps created using data from the now defunct London Development Database (covering 2006-2020). This was a London-wide database, released as open data but inaccessible to non-technical users. These maps give sometimes useful, but always contestable views of housing and spatial change in London, including what has happened to existing council housing stock according to GLA records.
